Architect – Architectural Designer – Architectural Intern

The role of Architect - Architectural Designer – Architectural Intern requires strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, ability to self direct, flexibility, a background in construction project administration and technical architecture.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide expertise that promotes a high standard of services.
  • Perform on-site investigation and construction services
  • Prepare investigation reports.
  • Participate in the preparation of scope of repairs, drawings and details under guidance of Sr. Architect, Associate or Principal.
  • Participate in and provide expert information at meetings with clients.
  • Manage bid process and review bids for repairs.
  • When in the role of project manager for building repairs, lead the project administration aspect; i.e. project meetings, RFI response, submittal reviews, payment application approval, schedule monitoring, etc.
  • Procure or assist with procurement of permits.
  • Maintain positive relationships with existing clients.
  • Provide information for assisting in client relations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the scope of services required by contract with client.

 

Experience/Skills/Education:

  • Demonstrated experience working with and/or managing a project team.
  • 3-5 years architecture experience with an emphasis in construction detailing, building materials and on-site installations.
  • Experienced user of Word and Excel, AutoCAD
  • BS or MS in Architecture or related field from an accredited university or foreign degree equivalent.
  • Qualified for licensing or reciprocity in the State of Washington.

Forensic / Structural Engineer – EIT

Forensic / Structural Engineer – EIT

The role of Forensic / Structural Engineer – Engineer in Training (EIT) requires strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, ability to self-direct, strong background in structural engineering, engineering field documentation and technical writing.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist senior engineers with investigation and repair of building structures
  • Provide onsite investigations of buildings, including structural damage and defect assessments
  • Analysis and interpretation of field data
  • Structural calculations to determine capacities of existing structural systems
  • Technical report writing, preparation of scopes of investigation and repair
  • Structural repair design, formulation and detailing
  • Provide analysis and details for architectural structures
  • Communicate with client and contractor through design and construction phases
  • Review structural design documents (by others) for completeness (post construction)
  • Provide structural engineering expertise support during litigation phase
  • Communicate with building officials to determine design requirements and clarifications
  • Maintain records of correspondence and other documents in accordance with company practices

 

Experience/Skills/Education:

  • BS in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited university or foreign degree equivalent
  • Has passed the WA State Engineer-in-Training exam and holds an EIT certificate with Washington State Department of Licensing
  • Experienced in the use of Word, Excel, and structural analysis programs
  • Experience with AutoCAD 2000 is an advantage, not a requirement
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is an advantage not a requirement
  • Experience in and knowledge of design of different materials (wood, steel, concrete, masonry)
  • Experience in forensic engineering a plus
  • A minimum of 3 years of structural engineering experience is preferred, but not a requirement

Construction Management (CM) Intern

Construction Management (CM) Intern

The CM Intern position is intended to provide an opportunity for a currently enrolled or recently graduated college student to gather knowledge of construction industry, field construction practices and related construction administrative processes. This position provides construction and contract management support to the Construction Manager and may be asked to help with general, project administrative support.

 

Reports to: Project Engineer, Project Manager, Sr. Project Manager
Position is hourly and does not include benefits.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Manager or Sr. Project Manager with administration of the construction contract as assigned.
  • Maintain RFI, change order, daily report and submittal logs, tracking and reporting status.
  • Post RFIs, field orders, and change order proposals to project drawings.
  • Provide quality assurance through job site walks, preparation of daily reports or logs, etc.
  • Review of General Contractor’s as-built documents.
  • Gather and/or prepare information for change orders, claims, claims defense, etc.
  • Assist in review of construction documents for constructability, bidability, completeness, errors and omissions.
  • Assist in the development of “front end” specifications and development of construction documentation.
  • Assist with cost estimating.
  • Procure or assist in procurement of contract required documentation, O&M manuals, as-built drawings, guarantees, warranties, keys, etc.
  • Develop and maintain project progress photos and required photos/videos/claim documentation.
  • Assist with or coordinate commissioning and testing of building systems and equipment.
  • Assist in review and verify monthly progress payments.
  • Review, confirm, prepare and/or assist with preparation of project master schedule.

 

Experience/Skills/Education

  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, Front Page, Access (optional), Outlook, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Project or other scheduling software is a plus.
  • Experience with web-based project management tools desired.
  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated from a Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or related program at an accredited university.
  • Some construction/project management or general contracting experience is a plus.
